US Online Personality Fined After Mass Electric Bike Ride on Sydney Harbour Bridge

New South Wales police have levied a penalty against an US-based online influencer and served two driving violation citations for reported negligent driving after a swarm of e-bike riders converged on the Sydney Harbour Bridge during peak-hour traffic on a weekday.

The Incident: An Illegal Gathering

A gathering of approximately 40 individuals riding e-bikes and motorcycles proceeded along the bridge’s main deck, an area where bicycle riding is banned. The assembly subsequently reversed direction and traveled through the city’s CBD and Haymarket.

"There was a risk of people to be injured and killed," stated NSW police assistant commissioner the officer on the following day.

Law enforcement said they did not chase right away the group out of safety concerns but instead located the assembly at a scenic Sydney lookout near the city gardens, where they dispersed.

Penalties Issued for Content Creator

On Saturday, authorities announced they had served the US social media influencer known as the influencer, 26, with two violation tickets for careless operation (not involving death or prior injury), with a fine of $562 and three demerit points each, connected to the bridge incident. Officials noted that inquiries were continuing.

The influencer reportedly has over 3.4m subscribers on one platform and more than 1.2 million on Instagram.

Creator's Response

The content creator spoke with a local publication recently following the event spread rapidly on digital platforms, stating he regretted giving "bike life" a bad reputation.

"I’ll probably take responsibility. That was one of the safest gatherings I have witnessed," he said. "I am a visitor here, and I intend to abide by the rules and standards of Sydney. So when I decided to do a public meeting it was not meant to include a group ride, it was just to say hi under the bridge."

"I did not know the area well, I am to blame we found ourselves on the bridge and I had two choices: whether the group completes the entirety of the bridge and turns around, an illegal act. Or we reverse, essentially, before we’re on the bridge. I chose at the time to go back."

Broader Context on E-Bike Regulation

The increase of electric bicycles on streets across the country has sparked increasing demands for stricter rules. The federal health minister, Mark Butler, commented that non-compliant electric bikes were a "complete hazard on the road."

"Young people have engaged in stupid things on bikes since the invention of the early bicycle [but] the injuries that are presenting at our hospital emergency departments are absolutely devastating," the minister said. "We must make sure we prevent these things coming into the country [and] officers are given the powers to take strong action, to confiscate them, to destroy them, to dispose of them."

NSW recorded over two hundred injuries associated with electric bikes in 2024. However, in the initial half of 2025, that number jumped to two hundred thirty-three injuries plus four fatalities.
