A female accused with harassing Kate McCann allegedly deposited her a voicemail message which asked: "what if I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who a jury heard has consistently asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial accused with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the court heard call records and evidence retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt consistently asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout that period.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported investigations and remains open.

'I Do Not Need Money'

Another voicemail, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm overweight and plain like Madeleine had been, but I know what I know."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? Then what? Is that not important for you?"

"I don't want money, I maintain a life here in Poland, I only wish to discover," she added.

The jury was told that by means of emails, mobile messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a effort to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with the police force who compiled the evidence, informed the court there "showed no any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted family friends of the McCanns, according to the phone records.

On 9 October 2024, Mr McCann answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "the wrong phone."

That day Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my position."

The court heard the co-defendant developed a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt prior to assisting her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in that area in last December.
