Palestinian-American Youth Liberated After Nine Months in Israel's Imprisonment

A American-Palestinian youth after completing a nine-month period in imprisonment by Israel absent formal charges has been freed.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 at the time of his arrest in February throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing on holiday from Florida under suspicion of rock throwing at Jewish settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

United States authorities said it welcomed the news of Mohammed's release.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital for treatment immediately after release, relatives told the media.

They said he is showing signs of malnutrition, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, family spokesperson conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Right now, we're concentrating on providing Mohammed with prompt healthcare he needs following exposure to mistreatment by authorities and brutal treatment for months."

The state department said it would continue to provide consular support to Mohammed's family.

{"American leadership considers paramount to ensuring the safety for United States citizens"," it added.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers submitted a formal letter to diplomatic officials and the White House, urging greater action to secure his release.

Mohammed's parent, parent of four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, previously claimed his child admitted guilt about rock throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

There were no visits nor direct contact since the arrest, learning information solely regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

He stayed absent formal charges in Ofer prison in the West Bank.

It is also home to grown detainees, featuring prisoners sentenced for major terrorist activities and murder.

Approximately 350 Palestinian minors in security custody detained within Israeli facilities, per correctional service statistics.

Numerous remain uncharged while advocacy organizations, as well as the United Nations, say some have suffered abuse and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting demanding accountability for their family member Sayfollah Musallet.
